Madame Tussauds, the world-famous wax museum, is planned to open in Dubai later this year.

It will be located within the renowned island resort Bluewaters and will offer an interactive fame experience unlike any other, with guests being able to get up close and personal with 60 global celebrities, including 16 brand-new wax figures from the Middle East region.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by Merlin Entertainments Ltd (Merlin), the world’s second largest attraction operator.

Tourists and residents can feel the fame as they enter the star-studded bash of a lifetime, where they can see incredible likenesses of celebrities from the region and beyond in a year-round family attraction.

The world-renowned attraction will be situated next to Ain Dubai, the world’s largest observation wheel, enhancing the venue’s status as one of Dubai’s most appealing tourist sites.

Madame Tussauds has a nearly 200-year history, having first opened its doors in London in 1835. Each figure at the attraction is sculpted by master sculptors using the same techniques as the famed Marie Tussaud.

Guests attending the UAE edition can walk into a Bollywood movie and take a selfie with Shahrukh Khan, the Badshah of Bollywood, or make the impossible possible by taking a selfie with the beauty queen herself, Kylie Jenner, in one of the seven themed rooms. That’s not all, though. Guests can even dress up as supermodels and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience standing beside Cara Delevingne, or show off their football talents with Cristiano Ronaldo.

“As one of the world leaders in location-based entertainment, we are delighted to be launching the first ever Madame Tussauds in the GCC, in Dubai, later this year,” Meike Lippert, Senior Divisional Director Midway Europe and Global New Openings, Merlin Entertainments, the Madame Tussauds operator, said.

“In addition to well-known global figures, the new Madame Tussauds will also be home to figures celebrated in the Middle East, including Nancy Ajram and Maya Diab, alongside other figures which we will announce very soon. The new attraction will provide an immersive and exhilarating experience for visitors to enjoy the famous world of renowned celebrities and personalities.”

Sanaz Kollsrud, General Manager of Madame Tussauds Dubai, commented, “It is a thrilling experience to bring the iconic Madame Tussauds to the UAE. This will be the 25th edition of our wax attraction and will be a first in the GCC. We intend to bring a whole new entertainment experience to the exciting portfolio of attractions in Dubai and cement Bluewaters’ position as a global tourist destination.”
