The newest five-star hotel from Kempinski Hotels has white sand beaches and an ocean that is as clear as glass. In September 2022, Europe’s oldest luxury hotel group will take over a high-end beach hotel in Cancun, Mexico, on the Riviera Maya. Cancun is a popular tourist destination in Mexico. This well-known property will not stop running, but in the coming months it will be updated and changed to meet the standards of the Kempinski brand. During this time, it will be called Grand Hotel Cancun – managed by Kempinski. By the end of 2022, it will be completely run by the Kempinski Hotel Cancun.
Kempinski Group’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Management Board, Bernold Schroeder, explains, “To strengthen the North American territory and to extend our footprint in this crucial market is an outstanding opportunity for Kempinski.”
He adds, “Cancun is a top vacation destination for guests from The Americas, who also make up a good proportion of our guests in the rest of the world as well as for Europeans. During a three-month transitional period, we will ensure that we implement our Kempinski DNA in the operation of this outstanding beach hotel and that we extend our brand recognition by delivering the impeccable service and quality Kempinski is renowned for.”
Claudia Molina Basteris, CEO of Grupo Inmobiliario Mosa S.A., says, ‘‘We are very excited about this new partnership in which Kempinski Hotels will bring a new level of luxury and service to our iconic resort.’‘
The elegant hotel is on one of Mexico’s best beaches and has 315 rooms and 48 suites, all of which have private balconies or terraces with a view of the Caribbean Sea. Two AAA Five Diamond Award restaurants are among the hotel’s eight dining options. The hotel also has an exclusive club lounge, two swimming pools, and an oceanfront whirlpool, a spa with relaxation gardens and secluded terraces, a fitness centre with saunas and steam rooms, a tennis centre, private cabanas and lounges on the 400-meter beach, a beauty salon, and a kids’ club.
Around the resort, there is a lot of indoor and outdoor meeting space for incentive meetings, weddings, galas, conferences, and events for large groups. From an 11,220 sq. ft. (1,000 sq. m.) ballroom that can be split into two to elegant meeting rooms, boardrooms, breakout spaces, and outdoor venues by the pool or a beachfront venue for up to 700 guests, there are many ways to make events stand out and tailor special meetings of all kinds.
Bernold Schroeder says, “In addition to our presence in Cuba and Dominica, this will be another outstanding option for our esteemed guests to spend their holidays with us in the Caribbean.”
“Moreover, members of our loyalty programme KEMPINSKI DISCOVERY, part of the Global Hotel Alliance’s GHA DISCOVERY, the world’s largest loyalty programme of independent hotel brands, with 40 brands and of which we are a founding member, will enjoy memorable Experiences and Local Offers besides earning and redeeming DISCOVERY Dollars (D$), in this new Kempinski jewel in Mexico.”
The luxurious property is in Cancun’s hotel zone and can be reached in 25 minutes from both Cancun International Airport and downtown Cancun. Upscale shopping malls like Kukulcán Plaza and La Isla Shopping Village are just a short walk away. If you want to get away from the beach and do something cultural, you can drive to the ancient Mayan city of Tulum in 90 minutes or to the Mayan archaeological site of Chichen Itza in 2.5 hours. It takes about an hour to get to the famous island of Isla Mujeres.
