Beaches on Palm Jumeirah have slowly begun reopening after the government in Dubai has loosened COVID-19 restrictions. A new set of guidelines have eased restrictions for private beaches in hotels as well as other sporting activities. Sports that will be permitted include watersports, boating, and biking activities. Prior permission from authorities will be required.
Outdoor and indoor activities with more than five people remain prohibited
Additionally, the guidelines specify that any outdoor activity that has more than five people will remain prohibited. This extends to indoor activities like parties as well. Amenities like sauna, spa and pool facilities, gyms, fitness, and health clubs are excluded from the prescribed guidelines.
“Hotels are allowed to reopen their private beaches only to their guests while enforcing stringent preventive measures, the most important of which is mandatory physical distancing between individuals,” the supreme committee of crisis and disaster management said in a statement.
In response to these guidelines, many hotels have reopened some of their facilities to guests. Sofitel Dubai The Palm has reopened its beach with social distancing measures in place. Five Palm Jumeirah Hotel & Resort and Andaz Dubai the Palm have also followed suit. All hotel beaches will be accessible to in-house guests only. Non-guests will not be allowed to purchase day passes.
