InterContinental Hotels & Resorts (IHG) has revealed their latest, science-based protocols and service measures in alliance with Cleveland Clinic, Ecolab and Diversey. Simultaneously the organization has started a global program ‘Clean Promise’ which will help boost guests’ morale and ensure employee protection.
How is ‘Clean Promise’ different from ‘IHG Way of Clean’?
Keith Barr, Chief Executive, IHG, said, “The future of travel may look different, but a safe, secure stay is fundamental to deliver true hospitality – and that will never change. By combining IHG’s world-class knowledge and processes, with cutting-edge expertise from Cleveland Clinic, Ecolab, and Diversey, we can reassure guests and colleagues that we’re focused on protecting their health and wellbeing. This includes looking at where technology can make a difference, deploying enhanced, highly-visible, and more frequent cleaning measures, and different approaches to food and beverage, all underpinned by our new IHG Clean Promise.”
In 2015, along with Ecolab and Diversey the two global representatives in hygiene and cleaning technologies, the company introduced a program called the ‘IHG Way of Clean’. ‘Clean promise’ is the expanded version of this program.
The latest one has been introduced in order to follow the guidelines of the World Health Organisation, Centres for Disease Control & Prevention and local public health authorities in global markets. IHG ‘Way of Clean’ already involves deep cleaning with hospital-grade cleansers. In today’s scenario guests want to see extraordinary cleanliness in each area of the hotel, which may involve:
Reception: Less interaction at check-in, touchless transactions, front desk screen, sanitiser counters, sanitised key-cards, paperless check-out.
Guest Room: Strict authentication of sanitized objects(e.g. Remote control, glassware, telephone), deduction of in-room furniture/high-touch items, advance laundry protocols, adoption of the latest technology.
Public spaces and facilities: extra deep cleaning of high contact areas, social distancing, ‘last cleaned’ charts, high precaution for pools, fitness centers, and lounges.
Food and beverage: New procedures and service approach to buffets, banquets, room service, and catering.
A safe and healthy atmosphere is mandatory for both employees and guests. In order to generate a safe environment for employees and guests IHG has collaborated with a team of medical experts at the Cleveland Clinic for guidance and resources.
