American Airlines will now run daily non-stop flights between Bengaluru and Seattle starting in October 2020. This new service will be the first non-stop flight between Bengaluru and the United States. The decision to begin a daily flight between BLR Airport and Seattle Tacoma Airport is expected to meet corporate customers’ travel demands. Many corporate customers are frequent travelers to Seattle and adjoining areas in the US. A 285-seater Boeing 787-9 aircraft is most likely going to be operated on this route.
New route to give business travellers easier access
This new route will offer passengers easier access to several areas including San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Denver, Arizona, Dallas, Chicago, West Coast and East states on a one-stop flight as compared to multiple stopovers in the past. Additionally, the airlines is also expanding its codeshare arrangement to include Seattle-based Alaska Airlines, who also intend to join the Oneworld Alliance.
Hari Marar, MD & CEO, Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) said : “The American Airlines flight between Bengaluru and Seattle will help further establish BLR Airport as the Gateway to a New India. This will create tremendous benefit for passengers traveling between the two countries. We will continue to explore attractive routes that connect Bengaluru to some of the most important destinations in India and abroad.”
In the recent past, BLR Airport has also launched new routes to Amsterdam and Addis Ababa. Tokyo and Munich are scheduled to begin shortly. With these new routes, Bengaluru will connect to 28 international destinations.
