Direct flights can be booked immediately: Vietnam Airlines will begin flying from Munich Airport on October 2, 2024, at the end of the summer flight schedule. In doing so, the airline is expanding its Asian flight schedule from Munich, flying customers twice a week to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The airline will deploy a Boeing B787-9 for these new routes. The aircraft will have a three-class seating configuration, with Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class.
Mondays and Saturdays will be the days for flights to Hanoi, the capital city. Flights to Ho Chi Minh City, popularly known as Saigon, will be available every Tuesday. Beginning in December 2024, the frequency will be raised to two flights each week: Tuesdays and Thursdays. Munich Airport becomes the fourth European destination in Vietnam Airlines’ route network, following Frankfurt, London-Heathrow, and Paris Charles de Gaulle.
“The new routes will expand our range of Asian connections and reinforce Munich Airport’s position as one of the leading aviation hubs in Europe. We are confident that these new direct flights will be very well received by our passengers and help to further enhance economic relations and cultural exchange between Bavaria and Vietnam,” said Jost Lammers, CEO of Munich Airport.
Vietnam has emerged as one of Southeast Asia’s most popular vacation destinations, as well as one of the most visited countries in the Asia-Pacific region. The inclusion of the two routes emphasizes the importance of German-Vietnamese commercial relations, as well as Vietnam’s status as one of the most important Southeast Asian vacation destinations for the German and Bavarian markets. There are numerous scientific and educational collaborations between Bavarian and Vietnamese universities, as well as major investments by Bavarian businesses in Vietnam.
