SWISS is resuming its inflight duty-free shopping service, which had been halted for the past two and a half years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The service is being revived with an innovation: Miles & More award miles can now be used to purchase in-flight items.
Additionally, the new in-flight sales assortment emphasises Swissness, sustainability, and travel-related merchandise.
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) has reinstating duty-free shopping on board. Following the two-and-a-half-year suspension of the service in reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic, passengers on all SWISS flights of 55 minutes or longer can once again purchase premium items at drastically discounted, tax- and duty-free pricing.
In a new addition to the relaunched inflight shopping service, Miles & More award miles can be used in conjunction with or as a substitute for credit card payments. The same is valid for any items purchased from the SWISS Saveurs in-flight food and beverage selection. Customers can earn Miles & More award miles for all onboard transactions made with a credit card.
SWISS’s chief commercial officer, Tamur Goudarzi Pour, explains that the reinstatement of duty-free shopping in-flight is a huge step back towards the airline’s full premium service. “Having had this facility suspended for two-and-a-half years, we are delighted that we can now offer our guests an inflight shopping experience that is even more diverse and is geared even more closely to their individual wishes and needs. And with the new additional option of using Miles & More award miles, our digital payment process is now even easier and more convenient, too.”
A concentration on Swissness, sustainability, and travel-related products
The newly revamped SWISS inflight duty-free assortment emphasises Swissness, sustainability, and travel-related products. In addition to watches and sunglasses, the new inflight sales assortment includes a tin of selected Swiss chocolate specialties, a deodorant wrapped in a sugar-cane bioplastic tube, and children’s headphones inspired by endangered species from all over the world.
