Singapore has accepted pre-departure COVID19 PCR test results on the IATA Travel Pass from 1at May 2021
Passengers traveling to Singapore will share their pre-departure COVID19 PCR test results on IATA Travel Pass app upon check-in with their airline, as well as on-arrival at the immigration checkpoints at Changi Airport. This Joint Collaboration between Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) and IATA will facilitate seamless and efficient travel through digital certificates of COVID19 tests.
“Having the confidence of an aviation leader like Singapore accept IATA Travel Pass is hugely significant” said Willie Walsh, IATA’s new Director General. “Ongoing trials put us on track for IATA Travel Pass to be a critical tool for the industry’s restart by delivering verified travel health credentials to governments. And travelers can have complete confidence that their personal data is secure and under their own control. The success of our joint efforts will make IATA’s partnership with the government of Singapore a model for others to follow.”
Singapore Airlines (SIA) did trials with IATA’s travel pass on passengers travelling from Singapore to London between Mar 15 and Mar 28. Customers were open to using the app for international travel in the future.
With these successful trials by Singapore Airlines, the Singapore health and border control authorities resulted in the acceptance of IATA’s Travel Pass as it satisfies Singapore’s prevailing COVID19 pre-departure test requirements for entry into Singapore. This includes enabling QR code scanning by immigration officers. Back-end transmission of health credentials from the travel pass to the airlines and immigration authorities’ systems for pre-boarding and pre-arrival clearance will be included, as well as including digital vaccination certificates on the travel pass.
As Changi looks to restore International Travel this partnership reiterates the shared commitment to adopt digital health certificates and restart safe travel.
Several other airlines have also commenced trials of the IATA Travel Pass.
Passengers flying into Singapore should check with the airline they are travelling with for eligibility to use the IATA Travel Pass.
