Qatar Airways, the Official Airline of the Journey to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022™, celebrates one week till the world’s greatest sporting event and takes the Qatar National Football Team back home.
The World’s Best Airline will also transport 140 FIFA Legends to Al Bidda Park for the FIFA Fans and Legends tournament at the FIFA Fan Festival™.
After finishing a training camp in Spain, the defending AFC Asian Cup champions arrived in Doha well prepared to participate in their first FIFA World Cup. The Qatar National Football Team will begin tournament play on November 20 against Ecuador in the opening match. The team will also face opponents from Senegal and the Netherlands in Group A.
FIFA is providing all ticket holders with the opportunity to compete for their national fan team in the FIFA Fan Tournament, courtesy of Qatar Airways. For a chance to win, ticket holders must join the airline’s Frequent Flyer club, Privilege Club.

The World’s Best Airline has successfully installed FIFA World Cup™ decals on 120 aircraft in preparation for football’s most prestigious sporting event. There are 48 B777s, 31 B787s, 21 A320s, 12 A330s, and eight A380s with custom markings. Additionally, the airline runs three Boeing 777 aircraft with custom FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022TM livery.
During the event, football fans in Qatar are encouraged to visit the Qatar Airways Skyhouse at the FIFA Fan Festival™. Hosting a variety of entertaining activities, including a unique zipline experience, an interactive Neymar Jr. challenge, a swing photo booth, a face painting booth, a Qverse experience, and much more.
Upon arrival to any of the eight stadiums on the day of a match, guests are also encouraged to enjoy interactive football-themed activities and family-friendly games at Qatar Airways’ stands in the Brand Activation Area.
Qatar Airways has also teamed with social media site 433 “The Home of Football” for the duration of the tournament and will be broadcasting content featuring football superstars from an interactive studio housed in the Qatar Airways House, an invite-only venue in the city.
Eight world-class stadiums intended to evoke the icons of Arabian culture will host the event. Al Bayt Stadium will host the tournament’s Opening Match with a seating capacity of 60,000, while Lusail Stadium will host the tournament’s Final Match with a capacity of 80,000. The remaining stadiums, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Al Janoub Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Education City Stadium, Stadium 974, and Al Thumama Stadium, will accommodate 40,000 spectators each.
Qatar Airways and Qatar Football Association (QFA) extended their relationship until the 2022/23 season by renewing their partnership deal in November 2021.
