With the opening of the “Kempinski Hotel Cancun” last week, the luxury hotel chain, which is celebrating its 125th anniversary this year, began a new chapter in one of the most picturesque locations on earth.
The Kempinski’s famous “Ladies in Red” performed while the priest of the hotel’s owning family, Luis Pablo Garza Aguiar, blessed the building to kick off the ceremony. Before the ribbon-cutting ceremony, more than 100 guests gathered for the Kempinski Hotel’s 125th anniversary cocktail, which began with a welcome from Interim General Manager Aref Sayegh and statements from owner Ms. Claudia Molina Basteris and Chief Operating Officer of The Americas, Xavier Destribats. A harpist and a band called “Red Shoes” played for the audience’s amusement. Rene Camelo, the executive chef, oversaw the serving of delectable beverages and canapés.
A magnificent addition to Kempinski’s collection of 82 hotels spread across 36 countries, Kempinski Hotel Cancun boasts white sand beaches and an ocean that is crystal pure. The hotel is located on one of Cancun’s best beaches, a 400-meter length of stunning shoreline that attracts enormous turtles on a seasonal basis. In addition to 48 luxurious suites, the hotel’s 315 beautiful guest rooms each have a private balcony or terrace with a wide-angle view of the Caribbean Sea. Two AAA Five Diamond Award restaurants are available for dining, and there are also two inviting club lounges and exclusive beachside cabanas for guests to use.
The amenities of this amazing hotel include two swimming pools, an oceanfront whirlpool, a Mayan-inspired spa with tranquil gardens, a fully equipped fitness centre, a tennis centre, a beauty salon, and a Kids Club to amuse the little ones.
There is plenty of indoor and outdoor event space for major gatherings including meetings, weddings, and conferences. There are many alternatives to enhance events and tailor meetings, including an 11,220 square foot (1,000 square metres) divisible ballroom, beautiful conference rooms, boardrooms, breakout spaces, outdoor locations by the pool, and a beachfront venue for up to 700 guests.
“Cancún is a top vacation destination and we are delighted to be here in Mexico with wonderfully committed colleagues to take care of our guests. We will continue to explore new destinations with outstanding and iconic hotels, where we will continue to bring the Kempinski DNA to life,” said Xavier Destribats, Chief Operating Officer of The Americas and Member of the Management Board of Kempinski S.A.
He continued, “In addition, members of our loyalty programme KEMPINSKI DISCOVERY, part of the Global Hotel Alliance’s GHA DISCOVERY, the world’s largest loyalty programme of independent hotel brands, will enjoy memorable experiences and local offers besides earning and redeeming DISCOVERY Dollars (D$), in this Kempinski jewel in Cancún.”
Claudia Molina Basteris, Chief Executive Officer of Grupo Inmobiliario Mosa S.A., said, “We are excited to partner with Kempinski Hotels at our iconic property in Cancún, and we can see that Kempinski is already bringing a new level of luxury and service to our resort.”
The luxurious resort is in Cancun’s hotel district and can be reached from both the airport and the city centre in 25 minutes.
