The Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) reported that the country received 1.462 million visitors in February, three times as many as in January. The number has surpassed one million for the first time since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in February 2020, and is roughly 30% of what it was before the pandemic.
Mainland visitors show a significant increase among arrivals. Other short-haul travellers originated primarily from Southeast Asia. F urthermore, the percentage of leisure travellers is on the rise.
Increased offers for “Hong Kong Goodies” tourist vouchers
The HKTB distributes “Hong Kong Goodies” visitor consumption vouchers in collaboration with merchants throughout the city, continually introducing more attractive offers. The most recent editions include offers from the MTR totaling HK$20 million, including 100,000 airport express tickets, 100,000 tourist day passes, and 100,000 coupons for RMB30 off High Speed Rail tickets. The Hong Kong Jockey Club also offers 2,000 Tourist Packs for HK$430 each.
Beginning in April, the number of stores selling “Hong Kong Goodies” will increase from the current 1,500 to approximately 3,000. Visitors can redeem the coupons for the most recent rewards, welcome drinks at select bars, restaurants, and hotels, and offers at various attractions, retail and dining establishments to receive a HK$100 discount on their purchases.

The HKTB offers visitor consumption coupons to visitors purchasing Hong Kong travel products through a variety of websites and travel agents around the world. The “Hong Kong Goodies” are also available at five HKTB Visitor Centres, including those at Heung Yuen Wai/Liantang Control Point, Hong Kong International Airport Arrival Hall, Star Ferry Pier in Tsim Sha Tsui, West Kowloon High Speed Rail Station, and the Passenger Clearance Building at Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.
