Ethiopian Airlines, the largest airline in Africa, is pleased to announce that it will add three weekly flights to Zürich to its expanding global network. On October 31, 2022, the first flight from Addis Ababa to Zürich will depart using the ultramodern Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The airline recently won the World Travel Award for Africa’s Leading Economy Class Airline at the 2022 African and Indian Ocean ceremony.
Zürich will be Ethiopian Airlines’ second Swiss destination, following Geneva, and its nineteenth European gateway. The city serves as the economic and industrial hub of Switzerland and is home to the headquarters of a number of international organizations, including football’s governing body FIFA.
Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew stated that the airline is pleased to open a new route connecting the financial capital of Switzerland, Zürich, with over 130 Ethiopian Airlines destinations via Africa’s political capital, Addis Ababa. He added, “The new flight will expand our presence in Switzerland and Europe at large and provide enhanced air connectivity between Switzerland and Ethiopia. The new service will also facilitate diplomatic and socioeconomic relations not only between Ethiopia and Switzerland, but also between Africa and Europe. As a pan-African carrier, we are committed to further expand our global network and connect Africa with the rest of the word better than ever before.”
Currently, Ethiopian Airlines flies to Geneva three times per week; by the end of October, this frequency will increase to four times per week. With the launch of service to Zürich, Ethiopian Airlines will offer seven weekly flights to Switzerland.
