The Emirates A380 has returned to Vienna after nearly four years away, transporting more than 400 people. Emirates has become the only airline to operate the double-decker at Vienna International Airport, marking a key milestone in the two companies’ collaboration.
The legendary aircraft first landed on Austrian territory in 2014 to commemorate Emirates’ tenth anniversary in Austria, and a scheduled A380 service between Dubai and Vienna began in 2016.
“We are delighted to bring our A380 back on the Vienna-Dubai route and offer our passengers the incomparable experience on board the popular aircraft. The A380 is Emirates’ flagship aircraft and a fan-favourite among passengers around the world. The return of the double-decker marks a milestone for Emirates’ operations in Austria and demonstrates the significance of our market in Emirates’ global route network,” says Elisabeth Zauner, Country Manager Emirates Austria, about the scheduled Emirates A380 flights to Vienna.
Julian Jäger, Joint CEO of Vienna Airport, is likewise pleased with the return of the Emirates A380: “I am delighted that the Emirates A380 is back in regular service to Vienna. The world’s largest passenger aircraft is a highlight for all travellers and a great enrichment for Vienna Airport. The associated increase in capacity is a further sign of the strengthening of connections to the Near and Middle East and is good for tourism to and from Austria.”
The A380 is now the world’s largest passenger aircraft and the flagship of Emirates’ fleet. Emirates presently operates more than 90 A380s on its global route network, which includes popular destinations such as Bangkok, Mauritius, Denpasar/Bali, and Sydney. A three-class A380 has 14 seats in First Class, 76 in Business Class, and 429 in Economy Class, accommodating a total of 519 passengers. This increases capacity on flights between Dubai and Vienna by roughly 20%, supporting tourism flows and providing Emirates customers with even more options for travel from the airline’s worldwide network to Austria.
Emirates flight EK127 departs Dubai at 0855hrs and arrives in the Austrian capital at 1225hrs. The return flight, EK128, departs Vienna at 1510hrs and arrives in Dubai at 2340hrs. All times are local.
Travelers on the Vienna-Dubai route will once again benefit from the Emirates A380’s comforts. First Class passengers can take advantage of onboard shower spas, an industry-leading feature specific to the Emirates A380. The upper deck also houses the Onboard Lounge for First and Business Class guests. In addition, all passengers will be provided international and regionally inspired cuisine, as well as the award-winning in-flight entertainment system ice, which offers up to 6,500 channels of on-demand entertainment, including Austrian material and Hollywood movies with German subtitles.
