One of the top hotel companies in the world, IHG Hotels & Resorts (IHG), has announced a historic expansion of its Regent Hotels & Resorts portfolio as well as the continuation of its collaboration with Katara Hospitality, the property’s owner and developer.

The news honours the long-standing collaboration between IHG Hotels & Resorts and Katara Hospitality, the award-winning global hotel developer and operator with more than 50 years of expertise in luxury hospitality and owner of the Carlton Cannes.

A two-year, multi-million euro renovation will result in the spring 2023 opening of the Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel. As part of IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle Collection, the brand returns to reinvent modern luxury, and the property will become a flagship property within the new generation of Regent Hotels & Resorts.

“We are absolutely delighted to be working with IHG to transform the Carlton Cannes into a Regent Hotel, providing an inspiring gateway from which to explore the wonders of the French Riveira.” stated Mr. Andrew Humphries, Acting Chief Executive Officer, Katara Hospitality. “Our aim is to deliver the serene and sensational at every turn. Our significant and continued investment will ensure that the hotel will stand the test of time for many years to come.”

The Carlton Cannes is one of the most recognisable hotels in the world, having long hosted royalty, statesmen, and celebrities from the stage and film, according to Kenneth Macpherson, EMEAA Regional CEO, IHG Hotels & Resorts. It is a representation of Riviera glitz, and we are eager to collaborate with our strategic partner Katara Hospitality to bring the reinvented Regent experience to life at the Carlton Cannes. Our goal to expand the brand’s recognition throughout Europe is just getting started.

Tristan Auer, a renowned French interior designer recognised for his singular style, polyhedral aesthetics, and beautiful vision with just a touch of irreverence, created the Carlton Cannes, a Regent Hotel, which will have 332 rooms and 37 branded villas. The extensive makeover project expertly protects the hotel’s historic elements, particularly its fabled façade, while producing a cutting-edge masterpiece that echoes the design ethos of the new Regent Hotels & Resorts. The Calton Cannes – a Regent Hotel offers visitors a taste of the brand’s distinctive new trademarks.

The property’s majestic Belle Epoque façade, framed by twin domes, occupies the frontage of a whole city block and looks out onto the famed beachside promenade, La Croisette. It is the pinnacle of elegance and the “Grande Dame” of Cannes’ hotel scene.

Since the iconic Regent brand joined IHG Hotels & Resorts in 2018, the addition of Carlton Cannes to the Regent Hotels & Resorts network represents a truly historic turning point in that reimagination. The company, which was founded in 1970 to revolutionise luxury travel, is built on a long history of innovation, breathtaking vistas, iconic locations, and first-rate service. Along with Chongqing, Shanghai, and Phu Quoc, the Carlton Cannes will join the new era of Regent in celebrating the most opulent experiences for contemporary luxury trendsetters.

In April of this year, the elegantly renovated Regent Chongqing and Regent Shanghai became the first new-build Regent to open with the brand’s new strategy. Regent Phu Quoc debuted in Vietnam. Following a complete makeover, Regent Hong Kong will reopen in Victoria Harbour by the end of the year, and Regent Bali will debut at the beginning of 2023.

More than 50 years ago, the creators of Regent Hotels & Resorts set out to reimagine the luxury travel experience. Regent Hotels was a pioneer in hotel design, setting the highest standards that are still adhered to by other luxury hotel brands today. As it blends Eastern and Western customs and subtleties in gorgeous locations like Hong Kong’s waterfront landmark and now La Croisette in Cannes, the hotel will really become a legend revived.
