Alaska Airlines Adds Main Cabin Hot Meals To Its Premium Inflight Retail Menu

Alaska Airlines is expanding its premium onboard cuisine by reintroducing hot meals to our in-flight retail menu in the Main Cabin. Our inflight menu, powered by our industry-leading pre-order program, continues to provide more options than any other airline in the United States.

Starting today, Premium Class and Main Cabin passengers on most flights over 1,100 miles* can select from up to five chef-curated dishes, including at least one hot lunch choice. Along with our freshly prepared food options, such as our Signature Fruit & Cheese Platter, our hot meals are only available for pre-order.

Over the last few months, our Food & Beverage staff have worked to improve our already high-quality in-flight meals, including expanding hot meal options on most medium- to long-haul flights.

Todd Traynor-Corey, Alaska Airlines’ managing director of guest products, stated, “We’re known for an inflight menu that is more thoughtfully curated with care. For a while now, our guests have often asked us if we’re ever going to bring back hot meals in the Main Cabin. It’s been difficult to keep it a secret – but for more than a year, our team has quietly worked behind the scenes taste testing the best hot food options with our culinary chef and creating a West Coast-inspired menu. Now no matter where they sit, guests will get to taste our world class food and beverages.”

Meet our Chef.

Born and raised in the delicious tapestry of London’s hotel restaurant scene, Chef Tony has worked with our LSG Sky Chefs sites all over the world.

Chef Tony has had the pleasure of working closely with Alaska Airlines over the last few months. Through his culinary innovation and tireless commitment, he continues to raise the gastronomic experience for passengers throughout the world, setting new standards for excellence in the sky.

The Alaska team emphasized the importance of creating a menu based on guest feedback. Chef Tony Wright described the creative process of picking meals that made the most sense for the West Coast-based airline and then acquiring the freshest ingredients as a labor of love for everyone involved in designing this menu. “This airline truly cares about creating a premium onboard experience and we hope everyone experiences that with every bite of their food.”

Our staff provide an honest review.

Before the current menu launch, the staff tasted the new lunch selections and provided the airline with honest comments.

“I love breakfast, so the Carnitas Breakfast Bowl was my favorite. It’s a classic pairing of slow roasted pork, eggs and potatoes, but with flavors that work well together to strike a delicious balance,” commented Naomi S.G., an Alaska Airlines flight attendant.

Krystal G, an Alaska Airlines Flight Attendant, loved the Pretzel Roll Sliders right away.

“I’m from Hawaiʻi and once you said it was on KING’S HAWAIIAN® slider buns, I was sold! It’s definitely not your traditional burger – it has an elevated, well-rounded taste,” Krystal explained. “Our guests are going to be really excited about this new menu. There’s something on it for everybody.”

All of our pre-order items vary from $8 to $11.50. Guests who pay with their Alaska Visa Signature® or Visa® Business card will earn a 20% bill credit.

Remember to use our industry-first pre-order option to choose your food and have it promptly delivered to your seat on your next flight. Pre-orders can be made using the Alaska mobile app or between two weeks and 20 hours before your flight.
