AirAsia Malaysia marks another milestone in its expansion strategy by launching its inaugural trip to Perth, Australia.

The debut flight of AirAsia’s Airbus A321neo aircraft took off from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (Terminal 2) at 2.10PM and landed at Perth International Airport at 7:50PM local time, with a 95% load factor. The AirAsia team gave the ecstatic guests onboard AK604 a warm send-off, handing them exclusive merchandise-filled goodie bags.

From now, AirAsia customers will have more alternatives for great value fares to and from Western Australia’s capital, with the number of flights increasing from seven to 14 each week. AirAsia’s expansion to Perth confirms its commitment to democratising air travel to more places, bolstering its position as Asia’s premier low-cost airline.

Bo Lingam, Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, stated: “We’re truly excited to launch AirAsia Malaysia’s first ever route to Australia commencing with one of our most frequented cities in the country – the beautiful Perth – adding to our daily existing flights on this route operated by our medium-haul affiliate airline AirAsia X (AAX). Thanks to the addition of the new model A321neo aircraft with longer range capabilities spanning over five hours and numerous operational efficiency, we are able to make these new services a reality on a narrowbody aircraft from Kuala Lumpur so that more of our guests can travel to Australia affordably.”

Perth is a popular destination for many Malaysians, attracting visitors from around the country and beyond for leisure, tourism, education, and visiting family and friends because to its proximity to Southeast Asia. Malaysia is also Western Australia’s fourth largest overseas visitor market, bringing $99 million into the WA economy in visitor spending for the fiscal year ending September 2023. In contrast, Asia is a popular destination for Australians seeking a cheap and culturally diverse experience.

AirAsia is celebrating its new milestone by offering all-in prices from Kuala Lumpur to Perth starting at RM299* and from Perth to Kuala Lumpur starting at AUD166* one-way. The ticket is available for booking from today until 17 March 2024 for travel between now and November 30, 2024.
