WTTC And Other Industry Bodies Call For Resumption Of Travel Without Vaccine Rollout

The World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) is joining forces with major international industry bodies to call for the restoration of international travel. These groups believe that the resumption of travel can take place without mandatory or widespread vaccination. WTTC, Airports Council International (ACI), the World Economic Forum (WEF), International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) have jointly declared that the world cannot collectively wait for the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccines.

174 million travel and tourism jobs are at risk: WTTC research

WTTC is also of the opinion that safety can be ensured through successful testing and that vaccines should not be a requirement to travel. The complete rollout of the vaccination program could significantly delay the revival of the tourism industry which is in dire need of business. WTTC research shows that 174 million global travel and tourism jobs are currently threatened.

“WTTC welcomes the incredible developments and hugely encouraging medical advances on COVID-19 vaccines which has seen the beginning of coronavirus vaccinations,” said Gloria Guevara, WTTC president and CEO. She added: “The vaccines currently being rolled out are truly game-changers, and hopefully just the first of many which could transform the world, mark the beginning of our return to a more normal way of life and see the return of safe and confident international travel.”
