Tourism Seychelles Office attended ‘Murex D’Or’ on Sunday, March 20, 2022, at the Atlantis Palm Dubai, as part of its aim to maintain and expand partnerships in numerous major markets. The world-famous Arab award ceremony was one of a series of important annual events in the Middle East honouring influential Arab and international artists.

The worldwide recognised ceremony, which has always been held in Lebanon, was staged for the first time outside of Lebanon, providing a chance for Tourism Seychelles to connect with new partners in the region.

Attendees got the opportunity to see performances and award ceremonies by some of the region’s biggest stars in music and entertainment, as well as stunning acts.

Mrs Bernadette Willemin, Director General for Destination Marketing, who is in Dubai for the occasion, emphasises the importance of the destination’s brand at the memorable ‘Murex D’or’ event “The GGC region has always been a region of interest to the destination, and we’ve now seen its potential, especially at the height of the pandemic where it ranked amongst our top markets. This event was about mentions, connections and strengthening our ties to our audience in the Middle East.”

Mr Ahmed Fathallah, the Middle East Representative for Tourism Seychelles, was also there commented, “We are deeply honoured to be a part of such a momentous and grand occasion. The past two years have been tumultuous, and it is refreshing and encouraging to see Murex D’or reorganizing their ceremony in a safe and secure manner. As we prepare to return to normalcy, it is critical that we do so in a responsible and safe manner.”

Mr. Fathallah noted the most recent advisory changes during his remarks, stating that travellers who have been vaccinated are no longer required to do a PCR test upon arrival, making travel to the islands less stressful.
