Almost all Covid-19 public health limitations will be lifted, according to the Irish government.

Restrictions on indoor and outdoor gatherings, including athletic events, have been lifted, allowing restaurants and bars to resume normal business hours.

Tourism Ireland applauded the move.

Tourism Ireland’s chief executive, Niall Gibbons, said: “The announcement that most Covid-19 restrictions in Ireland will come to an end is excellent news for tourism and hospitality.

“It means that we can now move forward and begin planning holidays in Ireland with confidence for the year ahead.”

He added: “We can now look to the future with optimism. Our priority for 2022 is to restart overseas tourism to the island of Ireland.”

Niall continued that they will be pulling out all the stops to set Ireland apart from other competitors in order to boost tourism bookings and income.

In 2022, Tourism Ireland will launch their most comprehensive marketing campaign ever, in collaboration with their industry partners.

The message of the entire Irish tourism industry is simple: they can’t wait to throw out the red carpet and welcome visitors from all over the world back.
