Sri Lanka is reopening to fully vaccinated Indian travellers, and there is a tempting offer available.
According to reports, Sri Lankan Airlines has introduced a buy one, get one free offer for Indian leisure travellers on return tickets to Colombo. The promotion will be available until October 31, 2021.
Travelers from India who are fully vaccinated can now visit Sri Lanka without being quarantined. However, they will be tested when you arrive.
According to the most recent reintroduced rules, a traveller must be fully vaccinated, with the second shot administered at least 14 days prior to the trip to Sri Lanka. The individual will be required to undergo an RT-PCR test in the hotel. If the test results are positive, the person will be taken to one of the hotel-run health care facilities.
According to Dimuthu Tennakoon, Head of Worldwide Sales and Distribution at Sri Lankan Airlines, in a statement to TOI, “Sri Lanka is now open for Indian tourists. People need to be fully vaccinated, with the second shot taken at least 14 days before the trip. On arrival, travellers will go to their hotel where RT-PCR test will be conducted. Those who test negative can travel where they want to go.”
Travellers who test negative for COVID will not be quarantined, but essential covid guidelines such as social distancing and hand sanitisation must be followed at all times.
While this is good news, it gets even better for Indian travellers because Sri Lanka accepts all vaccines available in India, including Covaxin.
Flights between Colombo and Madurai, Tiruchirappalli, Trivandrum, and Cochin have resumed once a week beginning September 1. In addition, Colombo will be linked twice weekly to New Delhi and Hyderabad. Furthermore, flights from Chennai and Mumbai will be increased to five per week, with three flights per week between Bengaluru and Colombo.
