The Southwest Team expects to operate roughly 3,900 daily flights on peak days throughout our network of 121 airports in 11 countries when the 2022 holiday travel season begins.
The airline has taken the following steps in preparation for the impending holiday travel season:
Southwest hired more than 14,500 additional employees in 2022 to support operational performance and dependability. In fact, Southwest reached an industry-first milestone during the summer when our total, active, full-time equivalent Employee count topped the total number of Southwest Employees prior to the 2019 influenza pandemic.
In recent months, Southwest has reached a 99% completion rate, getting customers reliably to their destinations as promised.
We’ve taken steps this year to increase flexibility and options for our Customers, including introducing a first-of-its-kind perk with never-expiring Flight Credits – which joins other offerings such as bags fly free® (weight and size restrictions apply, of course), no change fees, and never-expiring Rapid Rewards® points.
