Ryanair has added additional domestic flights starting December 4th after the UK government has permitted students to travel home for Christmas. The government has announced that there will now be a student ‘travel window’ and all universities must restart online classes so that students can return home between December 3rd-9th.
Ryanair to facilitate students travelling home for the holidays
In response to this government announcement, the low-cost carrier has announced additional routes to facilitate students returning home to their families. They’ve launched a new Edinburgh-Stansted route that will operate twice weekly until January 8th. There will also be three other UK domestic routes that will allow students to get back home ahead of the busy Christmas season: Derry-Liverpool; Belfast-Stansted; and Edinburgh-Derry.
Ryanair spokesperson, Alejandra Ruiz, said: “We welcome this ‘travel window’ guidance which allows students the opportunity to fly home to their families and friends, in advance of the busy Christmas travel rush.”
