As part of its new agreement with Trees4Travel, Eurostar is offering travellers the opportunity to plant trees when they book their journey via the Eurostar for Business platform.
After a growing demand from Eurostar business travellers, the company has launched a new project to assist sustainable travel. Planting a tree costs £3 (€3.50) per tree on the Eurostar for Business platform, which will be matched by the company for every tree purchased. The Eurostar for Business platform, which will be launched in September 2020, provides organisations of any size with a streamlined travel experience, as well as access to special pricing.
In developing countries, Trees4Travel will carry out reforestation initiatives to restore ecosystems, biodiversity, and support local populations through employment.
Green Travel Co-Founder and Chief Eco Officer Nico Nicholas said: “We are so delighted to be working with this most sustainability forward-thinking transport provider. This Eurostar initiative will not only draw down more than double the carbon created by any of the journeys it represents, but also should inspire other carriers to recognise that so much can be done, if we only work together on climate action.”

As one flight’s carbon impact is the equivalent of 13 Eurostar journeys*, there are huge carbon savings to be made by using the rail instead of flying.
