The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA), Mumbai, has recently launched an express COVID-19 RT-PCR test facility.Â
This facility is set up near the exit gates of the airport and is available 24/7 to passengers
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) had urged all airports to set up a testing facility for international transit passengers booked on a connecting domestic flight. Keeping this in mind, CSMIA has made the facility available to all passengers. The test is in compliance with the standards of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).Â
The test is priced from INR 1600 onwards. To avail this facility, passengers can either make an online booking on www.suburbandiagnostics.com or register themselves at the helpdesk that is set up at arrival. Within eight hours, passengers will receive a physical as well as a digital copy of the report.Â
The statement released by CSMIA said, “Upon submission of test samples, arriving passengers will be guided to a waiting lounge with special F&B arrangements while waiting on the test report. Alternatively, passengers can also opt to book a room at the airport hotel, with the approval of the state authorities. Passengers who have tested negative will be allowed to proceed onward to their final destinations; they will receive a stamp indicating a home quarantine by the state officials.”
If the test is positive, passengers will be directed by authorities to a designated institution.Â
In the coming months, CSMIA will make this facility available to departing passengers. These passengers can then opt to take the test before departing from the airport.
