Due to a decrease in the number of COVID-19 cases, the destination of Madeira has eased some of its restrictions:
Trips to Madeira and Porto Santo from the United Kingdom and other countries, as well as inter-island trips
- There are no restrictions for visitors, and no testing is required, but everyone should register on madeirasafe.com before arriving.
Use of face masks
- Everyone, starting at the age of six, is required to wear a protective mask in open or enclosed spaces where the recommended physical distance cannot be maintained.
Access to restaurants, pubs and similar establishments, clubs, gyms, and sports, cultural, social or recreational activities
- Those who have begun or completed the vaccination programme, as well as those who have a Recovery Certificate, will be required to show it.

Patients with COVID-19
- Five days of mandatory confinement in your home or at the hotel where you are staying, at your own expense, with the choice of returning to the community on the sixth day. There is no need to take a COVID-19 test if you don’t have any symptoms.
- Visitors and the general public are encouraged to continue using the web app in order to assist in the monitoring of the pandemic in the region, which is being done in partnership with the health authorities. It’s also a way to get declarations and certificates about the Covid-19 disease.
Tests
- Visitors must pay for their own testing in order to return to their home country.
- Testing is only advised if there are symptoms, including high temperature (=/+38ºC), vaccinated or not. In these cases, testing is free of charge.
Complementary measures to prevent COVID-19
- Everyone is urged to adhere to health laws, such as the 1.5-meter social distance, hand cleanliness, and respiratory etiquette.
