Lockdown 4.0 To Allow Inter-State Traveling In India

Inter-state travel in India is now allowed for everyone across the country, according to an article by Hindustan Times. The lockdown has been extended for the 4th time till May 31st with reasonable restrictions, as declared by the Centre on Sunday. Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, through the lockdown guidelines he issued, implied that inter-state bus services will be allowed only if states on both ends give their consent. People can also drive to other states, depending on what those particular states have allowed.

How have other services changed?

  • All domestic and international air travel and metro services have been paused. Domestic medical services and air ambulance for security purposes or purposes permitted by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) are an exception.
  • According to the Railway Ministry, Railway services will continue to be the same as in lockdown 3. Shramik Special trains and those special passenger trains will continue to run, however, passenger trains between states will remain suspended.
  •  All schools, colleges, hotels, restaurants, and shopping malls will continue to remain shut.
  •  The government has allowed Stadiums and sports complexes to be opened, without any spectators.

Most of the demands of the states were met when The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) issued the 4th lockdown guidelines. The parameters shared by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare based on the concentration of Covid-19 positive cases in different areas are taken into consideration while classifying red, green, and orange zones. These zones will be determined by respective states and Union Territories.
