Domestic flight services will resume in India from May 25 in a calibrated manner. This new development was announced by Hardeep Singh Puri, India’s Civil Aviation Minister through twitter. Presently, only cargo and evacuation flight services are allowed in the midst of an ongoing lockdown to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
Airports have been asked to stay prepared to resume operations
Airports and airlines have been informed to stay prepared to begin operations from next week in a phased manner. Standard operating procedures will soon be published by the ministry. Puri’s tweet read:
“Domestic civil aviation operations will recommence in a calibrated manner from Monday 25th May 2020. All airports & air carriers are being informed to be ready for operations from 25th May. SOPs for passenger movement are also being separately issued by
@MoCA_GoI.”
All flights in and out of India have been suspended since March 25, when the first phase of the lockdown was announced. While domestic flights will resume from next week, there is no official announcement on the status of international flights.
