In Conversation With Ms Ranu Shah At SATTE 2020 About Tourism In Nepal

Tourism in Nepal had been declining ever since the earthquake shattered the places in Nepal in 2015. However, Nepal has been progressing in terms of tourism after the earthquake. In fact, Nepal was acknowledged by National Geographic magazine as a must-see destination in 2016.

Nepal has been awarded many such titles since then

As Nepal is spreading its wings slowly and trying to become a world-class destination, they are also claiming India to be its biggest tourism market.

According to Ms Ranu Shah, Manager-North East Asia (Visit Nepal):

“India is a very important market for us. In terms of arrivals, India is ous top destination to focus on. Indian tourists look for leisure and spiritual travel. Millennials also seek adventure which is offered to them in abundance in Nepal.”

She adds by saying:

There is an age-old connection between the two countries, we share a similar culture and lifestyle.

Nepal is focusing on targetting not only the millennials but a larger audience. They are leveraging the digital world for marketing the destination that has helped them in several ways. The campaigns like “Garmi Se Behal, Chalo Nepal” targetting the Indian audience worked well for Nepal.
