Emirates has recently unveiled an integrated biometric path at the Dubai International airport. This contactless experience is open to all passengers travelling to and from Dubai.
The integrated biometric path aims to provide passengers a seamless and smooth travel journey
This includes specific check-in to boarding gates, upgrading customer flow through the airport with reduced document checks, and less queuing.
The biometric technology uses a mix of facial and iris recognition. By utilising this, passengers of Emirates can check in for their flight, finish immigriation requirements, enter the lounge and board their flights.
The several touchpoints in the Biometric path allow for a hygienic contactless travel journey. This is achieved by reduced human interaction and focussing on health and safety.
Adel Al Redha, Chief Operating Officer, Emirates, said, “We have always focused on providing a great customer experience at any touchpoint. Now it is more vital than before to make use of technology and implement products. It is also important to introduce processes that focus on fast-tracking customers. Apart from this, equal importance should be given to the health and safety of the passengers during their journey.”
Presently, the biometric touchpoints are set up at Terminal 3 at the Dubai International Airport. These are at select first, business and economy class check-in desks. These points will be marked and extra units will be installed at each touchpoint in the coming future.
Additionally, Emirates is also the first airline outside America to receive approval for biometric boarding. It received approval from the United States Customs Border Protection (CBP).
Passengers flying from Dubai to Emirates’ destinations in the United States will also be able to select facial recognition technology at the departure gates.
