easyJet has announced a new winter route between the airport in Bournemouth and Lyon, France.
Flights will begin on the 13th of January 2024 and operate every Saturday until the 24th of February 2024, making them ideal for week-long ski excursions and school holidays. Currently on sale for as low as £23.99*, customers can book in advance to receive the best rates.
In addition to easyJet’s existing winter route from Bournemouth to Geneva, which began in December 2021, the new route to Lyon will provide customers in southern England with another gateway to the Alps. The airport is a short distance from popular ski resorts such as Tignes, Val d’Isère, Alpe d’Huez, Les 2 Alpes, Val Thorens, and La Plagne.
Lyon, located at the junction of the Rhône and Saône rivers, is France’s third-largest city and is famed for its world-renowned culinary and architecture, with four historic districts designated as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Ali Gayward, the UK country manager for easyJet, stated:
“We are really pleased to be announcing a second winter route from Bournemouth to Lyon today, providing more choice for our customers in the South who are looking to visit the Alps region whether that’s for skiing and other winter sports, or a city break to enjoy Lyon’s impressive architecture, cuisine and history.
“With flights on sale today, now is a great time to book early to get the best fares and we can’t wait to welcome more customers.”
The managing director of Bournemouth Airport, Steve Gill, stated:
“This is great news for passengers and offers them even more choice from their local airport. Winter routes are increasingly popular from Bournemouth and Lyon provides even more connectivity to the Alps this winter.”
