Delta’s code will be displayed on ITA Airways flights to 33 destinations, including New York-JFK, Washington, D.C., Boston, Los Angeles, and Miami, as well as 16 onward connections inside Italy.
Delta and ITA Airways, Italy’s new flag carrier, have struck a reciprocal codeshare agreement that will expand Delta’s and ITA Airways’ route options between the United States and Italy and beyond.
The ITA Airways code will be used on Delta-operated flights to 92 locations beginning December 22, 2021. This includes flights between Rome and Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, and New York-JFK, as well as certain destinations across Delta’s vast domestic US network and flights to Mexico* and Canada*.
Delta will also place its code on ITA Airways-operated flights to 33 destinations, including flights from JFK, Washington, D.C., Boston, Los Angeles, and Miami to Rome, as well as 16 further connections inside Italy, beginning December 22, 2021. Delta’s code will be added to ITA Airways flights to Albania, Egypt*, Tunisia*, Greece, Malta, and Israel* for clients travelling outside of Italy.
Delta’s Senior Vice President Alliances, Perry Cantarutti, stated, “Italy is a top destination for Delta customers, and this codeshare – achieved just two months after ITA’s launch – expands our reach and makes it easier for our customers to get out into the world. We are grateful to the authorities in the U.S. and Europe for granting the codeshare approvals and will look to further enhance customer benefits with ITA in the months and years ahead.”
Customers will benefit from improved customer service, a single ticket, and bag check-in to their final destination as a result of the codeshare agreement. The new codeshare flights can be purchased on the airlines’ respective websites, itaairways.com and delta.com.
“Through this codeshare agreement with Delta, we will continue our commercial strategy to further grow our partnerships with the world’s best airlines,” ITA Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, Emiliana Limosani, commented. “Thanks to Delta’s network from New York-JFK, we are able to offer a huge choice of onward destinations to our customers, while also welcoming American visitors to Italy via our base at Rome Fiumicino.”
Delta’s codeshare with ITA Airways will begin in October 2021, when the Italian airline begins operations. The SkyTeam partnership encompasses both airlines.
