For the first time, Celebrity Edge®, the ship that originated the groundbreaking outward-facing design, will spend the summer in Alaska. Celebrity Edge will set sail from Seattle today on her debut seven-night Dawes Glacier cruise, stopping in Juneau, Ketchikan, and Skagway.

Celebrity Edge’s distinctive outward-facing architecture will provide guests with an unparalleled immersive experience as they view the breathtaking Alaskan glaciers.

Laura Hodges Bethge, Celebrity Cruises President, said: “There’s no better way to see the pristine Alaskan wilderness than onboard Celebrity Edge, which was specifically designed to create a closer connection between guests and destinations. Our elevated vacation options are redefining travel, especially in this region.”

From May to September 2024, passengers can enjoy the stunning views of Alaska from the comfort of an Edge Series ship. The iconic Magic Carpet®, the world’s first cantilevered, floating platform at sea, sits on the ship’s edge, creating a new way to dine, drink, and connect with the destination. You can also watch for whales and eagles as you wake up in one of the Infinite Veranda® staterooms, where the boundaries between inside and outside are erased.

Celebrity Edge will sail roundtrip from Seattle and one-way from Vancouver to Seattle on six- and seven-night cruises. Itineraries include visits to the region’s top destinations, including Ketchikan, also known as the “Salmon Capital of the World,” the Endicott Arm to spot local wildlife such as brown bears, bald eagles, sea ducks, deer, moose, and wolves, Alaska’s capital Juneau, and Skagway, before continuing to Victoria via the Inside Passage and returning to Seattle.

Guests at Celebrity Edge can enjoy the following features:

Modern two-story Edge Villas with plunge pools and guestrooms with Infinite Verandas are examples of transformational lodgings. The Infinite Veranda blurs the line between indoor and outdoor living, bringing you close to the water’s edge and providing guests with open air access to the sea at the press of a button.

The Retreat, which is exclusive to all suite guests, features a private restaurant, lounge, and sundeck. Furthermore, a dedicated team of butlers, attendants, and concierges is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to ensure that everything is in order while on vacation.
An unequaled culinary repertoire of 29 diverse restaurants, pubs, and lounges connects guests to their locations like never before. A Michelin-star chef’s globally inspired dishes bring the flavors of the world to the plate, giving an epicurean adventure unlike any other at sea.

Unique areas unlike anything else at sea, such as The Magic Carpet, the world’s first cantilevered, floating platform soaring over the sea, and Eden, three floors of sensory experiences wrapped in glass, both provide a mix of gastronomic and entertainment options with panoramic vistas.

Multi-use, transforming gathering spaces, such as The Grand Plaza, which is a majestic, open, three-story venue inspired by Italian piazzas and houses great specialty eateries, including the popular Martini Bar, Cafe al Bacio, and the new Grand Plaza Cafe.
Celebrity’s award-winning ships, Celebrity Edge, Celebrity Summit®, and Celebrity Solstice®, will provide 57 sailings and a variety of six- to seven-night itineraries between May and September 2024.

Community Impact

Celebrity Cruises, a Royal Caribbean Group company, engages with communities around Alaska as part of its Sea the Future commitment to preserving the environment, energizing communities, and accelerating innovation while providing the finest holidays ethically. Major initiatives include:

Grand Opening – Ketchikan Salmon Walk: In collaboration with the Tongass Historical Museum, the Ketchikan Salmon Walk debuted this summer, providing visitors with a unique opportunity to learn about salmon migration and life cycles in Ketchikan creek. The nearly two-mile promenade has been updated with new lighting and tarmac, as well as fascinating signage with artwork by renowned artists such as Ray Troll, Nathan Jackson, and Marvin Oliver.

A taste of Alaska using local sourcing: Guests have access to a variety of Alaska-owned products, merchants, excursions, and experiences, as part of our commitment to establishing ties with Alaskan businesses. Established agreements with Skagway Spirits, Seafood Producers Cooperative, and Alaska Specialty Seafood to source fresh seafood and other local commodities for its brands. These local collaborations demonstrate the group’s commitment to connecting with local cultures and promoting economic growth, all while providing tourists with a genuine Alaska experience.

Renewed Commitment – Sitka Sound Science Center: The Sitka Sound Science Center’s Scientists in the Schools (SIS) program brings local scientists together with students in K-12 classrooms to study science and ecosystems. This effort strives to instill a love and appreciation for science and nature in Sitka’s youngsters while also providing a meaningful educational experience. The initiative combines classroom visits by scientists into the curriculum at each grade level in Sitka schools, resulting in a pipeline of scientific experiences for Sitka students from kindergarten to grade twelve. Last year, the cruise business supported the program, which benefited 960 children from nine schools.
“Locals Onboard” at Voyij.com Partnership: Over the last three sailing seasons, the cooperation with Skagway-based Voyij.com has generated over $1 million in sales for Alaskan businesses. In 2021, the two collaborated to connect ship guests to an online marketplace where Alaskan businesses, shops, and artists sell their wares. Voyij.com features over 250 small businesses and artists from 45 localities throughout the state.
