British Airways has upgraded its Executive Club loyalty program once more by offering flights for £1 or more in Avios, with the intention of providing customers with an even greater selection of methods to spend their Avios.

When purchasing a trip or holiday, Avios part payment allows consumers to lower the monetary cost of their booking by selecting the number of Avios they wish to donate. Previously, the maximum discount varied depending on a variety of circumstances, but the airline now allows consumers to lower their booking to only £1 using Avios.

Using Avios as part payment differs from booking a Reward Seat, which has a limited number on each flight at a predetermined pricing. Members who book any flight can use Avios as part payment, regardless of seat type, giving them more flexibility and the ability to contribute varied sums.

British Airways’ Chief Commercial Officer, Colm Lacy, stated, “We’ve listened to our Members’ feedback and we’re really excited to be introducing this latest update for them. We know that most of our customers choose the lowest cash amount when it comes to making Reward Flight bookings, so we anticipate this to be a popular option for those using Avios part payment too. Ultimately, our goal is to keeping adding more choice and flexibility for Members.”

Last year, British Airways Holidays introduced Avios part payment, with holiday package bookings starting at £1 plus Avios.

Members who pay in part with Avios will still get Avios and Tier Points for their flight, as well as any extra Avios and Tier Points that may be available. Part payment is also accepted on American Airlines flights between the United Kingdom and North America, as well as British Airways codeshares with select partners.
