Tourism Australia declared that the country’s borders will reopen to fully vaccinated visitors from all over the world on February 21st.
The decision builds on quarantine-free travel agreements with Singapore, which were implemented in November, as well as agreements with Japan and South Korea, which were implemented a month later.
Phillipa Harrison, Tourism Australia’s managing director, stated: “The announcement today enabling fully vaccinated travellers from Britain to Australia quarantine-free from February 21st is a significant step in rebuilding international visitation from Australia’s international tourism markets across the globe.”
“Australia has long been a popular outbound destination for British travellers, with more than 700,000 visitors travelling to our country annually pre-Covid-19, and we are really excited that we will have the opportunity to welcome back visitors from the UK, one of our key international markets, as travel resumes.”
She added that Tourism Australia has maintained an active presence throughout the pandemic to keep Australia top of mind in the market. With the reopening of travel from the United Kingdom to Australia, Tourism Australia will collaborate with its trade and distribution partners on targeted marketing campaigns to encourage visitors to come and enjoy all of Australia’s amazing tourism experiences.
The Australian government has declared that all fully vaccinated visa holders, tourists, business travellers, and other visitors will be able to enter the country later this month.
In order to enter Australia, visa holders who are not fully vaccinated will need a valid travel exemption and will be subject to state and territory quarantine procedures.
In the coming weeks, Tourism Australia will launch a new tourism campaign to welcome leisure travellers back to Australia.
Tourist Australia will collaborate with a number of important distribution and airline partners as part of this effort to increase bookings and help Australia’s hard-hit tourism economy recover by providing tactical offers geared at boosting travel to Australia from the UK.
