Air India, India’s national carrier has opened bookings for flights between India and the United Kingdom. This has come only hours after the civil aviation ministry announced that flights from India to the UK will commence from January 6. Air India has also revealed that new flights have been added to the regular flights that ply between the two countries. Tickets can be booked through the website.
Flights will resume from January 8
On January 6th, 2021, two flights will go to London Heathrow. One will fly from Delhi and one from Mumbai. Following that, two Air India flights are scheduled to Delhi and Mumbai from London Heathrow. One Air India flight will fly from Mumbai to London Heathrow on January 8. Another return flight has also been announced. This official announcement from Air Asia followed India’s civil aviation minister Hardeep Singh Puri’s statement: “It has been decided that flights between India & UK will resume from 8 Jan 2021. Operations till 23 Jan will be restricted to 15 flights per week each for carriers of the two countries to & from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru & Hyderabad only.”
Puri also confirmed that all necessary safety precautions will be followed in accordance with the standard operating procedures (SOP) issued by the health ministry regarding air travel between India and the UK. In late December 2020, India suspended air travel for international flights after a mutated strain of the coronavirus was revealed to be spreading rapidly in the UK.
