Turkey has registered a 57% increase in the number of Indian tourist arrivals, according to The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism India. It hosted 230,000 Indian visitors in 2019 as compared to 147,000 Indian visitors in 2018. Noticing a positive upward trend in the number of tourists, Turkey Tourism is further expecting a 35% increase in tourist arrivals by the end of 2020.
Turkey has become a popular destination for Indian travelers
Official statistics also show that 51.9 million foreign tourists visited Turkey within the period of January to December 2019, indicating a 13.7 percent increase from the previous year. Turkey has grown to become a popular destination for Indian tourists and travelers. Leisure travel, FTI, Indian weddings, and MICE summits have all seen an increase in the past few years. This year particularly, Turkey witnessed a remarkable surge in the number of big-budget Indian destination weddings. MICE travel has also increased at a rapid pace.Â
Turkey tourism has been consistently engaging with Indian audiences to increase the number of arrivals. There has been a specific focus on important festivals, summits & international events that are held in Turkey. Several fam trips and engagements are being held for Indian travel and tour operators to acquaint them with the cuisine, culture, landscape, history, and nature of Turkey. In upcoming quarters, the Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism office will partner with top Indian travel associations to boost tourism.Â
